Preecha T.

Bangkok · First Questions Session

"I had a general sense that I needed to sort out my SSF record before I retired, but I didn't know where to start. The session helped me understand what I was actually asking. I came in with a vague worry and left with a specific list of things to check."

Chiang Mai · Year-Round Membership

"The membership material is noticeably different from what you find searching online — it reads like it was written by someone who actually thought about what a non-specialist would understand. The quarterly updates have been useful too; I'd had incorrect information from another source."

Bangkok · Community Seasons

"The community gatherings were something I didn't expect to value as much as I do. There are others there who've already been through the process and the informal conversations are often as useful as the formal programme. The companion booklet is well-made — I've written a lot in the margins."

Somporn R.

Bangkok · First Questions Session

"I was specifically looking for something that wasn't trying to sell me anything. Calmyear is exactly that. The facilitator was patient and didn't rush, and there was no follow-up trying to move me onto a product. Just the information I needed."

Nonthaburi · Year-Round Membership

"The seasonal reminders are more helpful than I expected. In April I got a prompt about checking my contribution records before a particular administrative period — I wouldn't have known to do that. It's the kind of practical nudge that the official sources don't give you."

Bangkok · Community Seasons

"I've now been in the Community Seasons Programme for its second full year. The gatherings in the first year were useful for learning; the second year they've become genuinely enjoyable. There are regulars I've come to know and we've had some very practical conversations about navigating things together."

In Depth

How participants found their way forward

Three accounts showing how different people used Calmyear's programmes to move from uncertainty to clarity.

The Starting Point

Siriporn, a secondary school teacher in Bangkok approaching 55, knew she had contributed to the GPF throughout her career but couldn't find a clear explanation of when and how she could access those funds. Searching online produced contradictory results.

What She Did

She attended the First Questions Session, which helped her identify that her confusion came from conflating two separate elements of the GPF rules. The facilitator pointed her to the specific official GPF publication that answered her question directly.

Where She Got To

Siriporn read the official source and found the information she needed. She has since joined the membership to track any changes in the coming years before she formally retires. She describes the session as "three months' worth of confused searching, solved in two hours."

The Starting Point

Thanakorn, a private sector employee in his late forties, wanted to start organising his pension planning systematically but felt overwhelmed by the number of things he thought he might need to do. He wasn't sure which was most urgent.

What He Did

He signed up for the Year-Round Membership and worked through the explainer library over several weeks. The seasonal reminders helped him prioritise, and he used the email support to clarify a terminology question about voluntary SSF contributions.

Where He Got To

Thanakorn now has a clear record-keeping system in place and a better understanding of which decisions are worth making now versus later. He says the membership "turned something that felt overwhelming into a manageable series of small tasks."

The Starting Point

Kannika retired from nursing in 2023. She understood her own pension position reasonably well but found the adjustment to retirement socially isolating. She wanted connection with others who understood what the transition actually felt like.

What She Did

A colleague recommended the Community Seasons Programme. Kannika joined mid-year and attended the two remaining 2024 gatherings before signing up for the full 2025 cycle.

Where She Got To

Kannika is now one of the longer-standing community members. She says she came for the information but stayed for the people. She has also shared the membership explainers with her sister, who is still in employment and starting to think about her own later years.
